What is the Puma PTO?
The PTO works to bring CICS-IP families closer with teachers and staff to support school activities and programs through financial and voluntary support.
It does not have any authority to change school policy, curriculum, etc.
Why do we need a PTO?
Strengthens the partnership between the parent community and our school.
Provides opportunities for students and families to connect outside of regular school events.
The PTO is a 501c3 non-profit organization that allows us to seek local business sponsors and get matching corporate donations.
Without the non-profit status, we couldn’t raise additional outside funds from local businesses that benefit our students.
Why Does the PTO Host Fundraisers?
Funding Highlights:
Playground resurface and equipment repair
New PA System
Updated gym equipment
Safety barricades
Gaga ball pit
The Rainbow Pit
1-to-1 technology made possible by the PTO
The Maker Space, IXL, BrainPop and SEL Curriculum
Teacher Appreciation efforts
Who is the PTO and How Do You Get More Involved?
Any parent or guardian who has a child at CICS-IP is automatically a member of the PTO (vs. PTA which charges membership dues).
Come to meetings!!!
Consider volunteering for an open or future board position including: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Fundraising or communications.
Nominate yourself or another parent for an open role
If we have multiple people volunteering, we will host elections
Positions are 2-yr terms
Two volunteers can serve as co-chairs for any position, with the exception of treasurer
Former Board members will help guide you in the new role
Currently there are 2 open positions available, if you are interested in the Fundraising or Communications position please email us at pumapto@gmail.com.
Parent Grade Level Representatives
One of our goals this year is to help build community at the grade level.
In the spirit of building more community at the school, we’d also like to invite any and all to become grade level representatives. We are looking for CICS parents/guardians who want to be the voice of their peers.
So what does that mean?
Grade level representatives:
Serve as a liaison between the PTO and your student’s grade
Provide feedback on school/PTO programs
Share ideas with the PTO on how we can better serve your child's grade
Help build community by engaging with teachers and parents/guardians and perhaps plan some grade specific outings (this could be as simple as, “we’re meeting at the park at noon next Sun., come and join us.”)
Does this sound like a good fit for you or someone else you know? Please email us at pumapto@gmail.com. We are grateful for all of you and any time you can commit. We also know everyone is extremely busy so this role can be as big or little as your time allows.
Thank you for your consideration!
